Public Access Defibrillator Program
A community initiative of Medavie Health Services New Brunswick
Just as the name indicates, our Public Access Defibrillation (PAD) Program aims to see defibrillators become as widely accessible to the public as possible – so they can be used quickly and effectively to save the life of someone whose heart has stopped beating.
We assist organizations in obtaining an AED, registering it with our Medical Communications Management Centre, placing it in a location that is visible and accessible, and using it to save the life of someone in cardiac arrest.
Click here to download the maintenance checklist to help with defibrillator maintenance, as maintenance is the responsibility of the facility.
We recommend that you check your defibrillator weekly and do regular maintenance check (at least every three months) to confirm that the pads and battery have not expired, and that all equipment is present and working properly. Please note that you should contact your defibrillator distributor/sales representative to reorder replacement pads or battery at least one month before the expiry date.
