As the management company for Ambulance New Brunswick and the Extra-Mural Program, we’re looking for an Employee Health and Wellness Consultant to help support our growing operation which provides exemplary, highly coordinated primary health care in the right place, from the right provider, at the right time.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Human Resources, the Consultant will provide administration, support and advisory services to employees and management specific to areas of employee health and wellness. This position will contribute to the accomplishments of employee health and wellness services and objectives, and provide a service-oriented, high performance culture. While working collaboratively with internal partners including Operations and Human Resources, the Consultant will provide support in disability management processes, absenteeism management, immunization administration, psychological health services and will promote overall employee wellness within MHSNB and EM/ANB Inc. where applicable.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Perform health assessments and administer first aid as may be required to assess injured or ill employees;
  • Support Infection Prevention and Control to maintain the program including acting as a consultant to other health care workers and liaise with public health;
  • Work collaboratively with the Employee Health & Safety Consultant to ensure that preventative measures are designed and implemented to guarantee the health and safety of our employees;
  • Assist employees to obtain ergonomic assessments;
  • Provide clinical expertise to the Joint Health and Safety Committees as required;
  • Administer, audit and support the delivery of the Psychological Health Programs including the design, development, implementation and evaluation of related direct services and monitoring of services provided by community partners;
  • Development, maintenance and execution of all related employee wellness and health related policies;
  • Assist with data monitoring/analysis and reporting by gathering data from various internal and external sources;
  • Conduct initial assessments on all new employees and provide immunological services;
  • Support disability management processes including application for benefits, assisting with management of short- and long-term disability leaves;
  • Administration and management of WSNB claims application and liaising with external partners as appropriate;
  • Design, implement and/or coordinate gradual return to work programs and modified work programs;
  • · Overall management of attendance support program including consulting, generating attendance reports, statistics and assisting with corporate statistical reports.

As the ideal candidate for this position, you:

  • Possess a post-secondary education at the Bachelor’s degree level;
  • Have current registration and are in good standing with the Nurses Association of New Brunswick;
  • Have a minimum of five (5) years’ recent experience in occupational health nursing field, preferably in the health care sector;
  • Have experience working with partners in the areas of occupational health, disability management and employee wellness preferably in a unionized environment;
  • Have completed a disability management certification, i.e. CDMP or willingness to achieve the designation;
  • Possess a minimum of two years working knowledge and experience in WSNB claims management, STD, LTD and disability management;
  • Demonstrate health assessment skills and relevant knowledge including communicable disease surveillance protocols;
  • Have knowledge of relevant and current legislation.

Travel will be required. Bilingualism is essential for this position.
